Caterpillar 320 excavator manufacturers

When sourcing a used Cat 320, prioritize the hydraulic system and engine health. Check for leaks in the main pump, soot in the exhaust, and ensure the swing motor operates smoothly without unusual noise. Verify the operating hours against the wear on the undercarriage (sprockets, idlers, and track links); if the hours are low but the tracks are heavily worn, the meter may have been tampered with.

Confirm the specific sub-model (e.g., 320 GC for fuel efficiency, 320 for heavy-duty, or 320 GX for economy). Ensure the engine meets your local emission standards (Tier 3, Tier 4, or Stage V). Key specs to validate include a net power of approximately 107-117 kW and a bucket capacity ranging from 1.0 to 1.2 m³ depending on the configuration.

Ensure the supplier provides the Original Certificate of Conformity (CE for Europe, EPA for USA). For used machinery, a De-registration Certificate and a Clean Title are essential. You must also request a Third-party Inspection Report (such as CCIC or SGS) to verify the machine's serial number matches the paperwork to avoid customs clearance issues.

Modern Cat 320 units often feature Cat Grade with 2D/3D, Payload weighing systems, and E-Fence technology. When purchasing, verify if the Product Link™ telematics are active, as this allows for remote monitoring of fuel consumption, location, and maintenance alerts via the VisionLink platform.

The biggest risks include hidden mechanical defects and payment fraud. Always use Secure Payment services or Letters of Credit (L/C). Never transfer full payment upfront to unverified accounts. For sourcing reliable Chinese exporters of Caterpillar equipment, platforms like Made-in-China.com offer Audit Reports that verify the supplier's physical existence and business license.

Focus on the Total Landed Cost, not just the sticker price. Negotiate for bundled wear parts (filters, teeth, seals) to be included in the container. Ask for a video walk-around and a cold-start test performed in real-time. If buying multiple units, aim for a 5-10% volume discount or request the supplier to cover the export loading and lashing fees.

The most common methods are Roll-on/Roll-off (RoRo) or Flat Rack containers. RoRo is generally safer for the machine's structure, while 40HC containerization (which requires dismantling the arm and cabin) can be more cost-effective for long-haul sea freight. Ensure the supplier uses professional anti-corrosion wax spray to protect the metal surfaces from sea salt during transit.

Utilize the Star Buyer or Diamond Member verification on Made-in-China.com to identify reputable exporters. Insist on a Pre-Shipment Inspection (PSI). Ensure the contract specifies the Incoterms (typically FOB or CIF) clearly and includes a clause for dispute resolution in a neutral jurisdiction.
