Greeting card printing manufacturers

Focus on paper weight (GSM) and finish types. For premium cards, a weight of 300-350 GSM is standard to ensure structural integrity. You should specify the coating, such as Matte, Glossy, or Soft-touch lamination, and consider specialized techniques like Foil Stamping (Gold/Silver), Spot UV, or Embossing to increase the perceived value of the product. Always request CMYK color calibration to ensure the printed result matches your digital artwork.

Verify that the supplier uses FSC-certified (Forest Stewardship Council) paper to guarantee sustainable sourcing. For cards intended for the EU market, ensure compliance with REACH regulations regarding chemical substances in inks and glues. If the cards include small attachments (like buttons or charms), they must meet CPSIA standards for lead and phthalate content if sold in the U.S. market.

Ensure the creasing/folding line is precise to prevent paper cracking, especially on high-GSM cardstock. If the cards are sold as sets, verify the envelope compatibility (e.g., a 120 GSM V-flap envelope) and the adhesive quality of the seal. For retail-ready products, specify individual cellophane wrapping (OPP bags) or eco-friendly bio-degradable sleeves to protect the cards during transit and display.

Always request a physical pre-production sample (PPS) before authorizing a full print run. Digital proofs (PDFs) can be misleading due to monitor calibration. Utilizing Made-in-China.com's Inspection Service can provide a third-party verification of the color accuracy and finishing quality before the goods leave the factory, significantly reducing the risk of receiving unsellable inventory.

Greeting cards are highly seasonal (Christmas, Valentine's Day). You should negotiate a production lead time of 15-25 days and allow an additional 30-45 days for sea freight. To ensure security, use Trade Resources on Made-in-China.com to verify the supplier's past performance. For urgent restocks, consider Air Freight for small volumes, but calculate the impact on your unit margin as shipping costs for paper products can be high due to weight.

Before sharing high-resolution source files, require the supplier to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA). Ensure the contract specifies that all printing plates and digital assets remain your property. It is advisable to work with Audited Suppliers on Made-in-China.com, as these companies undergo rigorous background checks regarding their business ethics and operational legitimacy.
