Optical eyewear glasses manufacturers

Buyers should distinguish between Acetate, Metal (Monel or Titanium), and TR90. Handmade Acetate is preferred for high-end markets due to its deep gloss and hypoallergenic properties. For lightweight durability, Beta-Titanium offers superior flexibility and corrosion resistance. Ensure that metal frames feature nickel-free plating to prevent skin irritation and comply with international health standards.

Optical glasses are classified as medical devices in many regions. You must ensure suppliers provide FDA Registration for the U.S. market and CE Marking (EN ISO 12870) for the European Union. Additionally, verify that lenses meet ANSI Z80.1 standards for refractive power and impact resistance to ensure consumer safety and legal market entry.

The hinge is the most common point of failure. Prioritize OBE or Comotec hinges (German/Italian brands) for premium orders. Request a cycle test report—high-quality frames should withstand at least 20,000 to 30,000 opening/closing cycles without loosening. For spring hinges, ensure the tension is consistent and does not 'snap' too aggressively.

Current market demand focuses on Blue Light Blocking (HEV light protection) and Photochromic (light-adjusting) lenses. Ensure the supplier uses vacuum ion plating for Anti-Reflective (AR) coatings to prevent peeling. For high-diopter prescriptions, verify the availability of High-Index lenses (1.61, 1.67, or 1.74) to maintain a thin, aesthetic profile.

Implement a Pre-Shipment Inspection (PSI) focusing on 'AQL 2.5' standards. Specifically, check for bridge symmetry, temple alignment, and surface pitting. Since eyewear is fragile, insist on double-walled corrugated export cartons and individual protective sleeves for each frame to prevent scratches during transit.

Focus on tooling costs and MOQ flexibility. If you require custom branding (OEM), negotiate for the laser-logo fee to be waived for orders exceeding 300 pieces. For new designs, ask if the supplier can provide 3D-printed samples before opening expensive steel molds, which can save thousands of dollars in R&D.

Eyewear is lightweight but high-value, making Air Freight or Express (DHL/FedEx) the most viable options for small to medium batches. Be aware that customs may request a Drop Ball Test report for lenses to prove impact resistance. Ensure your commercial invoice clearly states the HS Code (9003.11 for plastic frames or 9003.19 for other materials) to avoid classification delays.

Always use Secured Payment services provided by Made-in-China.com to ensure funds are only released after you confirm receipt of goods. Before transferring large sums, verify the supplier's Audited Supplier report to check their actual production capacity and floor space, reducing the risk of dealing with 'middleman' trading companies.
