When selecting a manufacturer, prioritize formulation stability and packaging integrity. Ensure the ball-and-socket mechanism provides a smooth, leak-proof application. The formula should be tested for viscosity to prevent dripping and drying time to enhance user experience. For active ingredients, specify if you require aluminum-free, alcohol-free, or natural organic bases to meet specific market niches.
Cosmetic products are strictly regulated. You must ensure the supplier complies with ISO 22716 (GMP for Cosmetics). For the US market, FDA registration is required, especially if the product is marketed as an antiperspirant (classified as an OTC drug). For the EU, products must have a Product Information File (PIF) and comply with EC No. 1223/2009 regulations, including CPNP notification.
Request a full Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) and a Certificate of Analysis (COA) for every batch. It is critical to verify that the fragrance components are IFRA (International Fragrance Association) compliant to avoid skin sensitization issues. Conduct microbiological testing and heavy metal analysis through third-party labs like SGS or Intertek before final shipment.
OEM services usually offer bespoke fragrance development, adjustable active ingredient concentrations, and packaging customization. You can choose between glass, PP, or PCR (Post-Consumer Recycled) plastic containers. Advanced suppliers also offer silk-screen printing, shrink-wrap labeling, and custom-designed outer boxes to align with your brand identity.
The primary risks include leakage during transit and customs seizure due to improper documentation. Liquid products are often flagged as 'sensitive goods.' To mitigate this, ensure the supplier provides a Non-Hazardous Goods Declaration and uses reinforced export-standard packaging with internal dividers to prevent bottle friction.
Focus on tiered pricing models based on annual volume rather than single orders. Discuss raw material price indexing for key components like plastic resins or essential oils. To secure better terms, offer a forecast-based procurement plan, which helps the factory optimize production schedules and reduce your unit cost by 10-15%.
Always use Trade Assurance or Letters of Credit (L/C) for initial large-scale transactions. Never pay 100% upfront; a standard 30% deposit and 70% balance against the Bill of Lading (B/L) after a successful Pre-Shipment Inspection (PSI) is the industry benchmark for protecting buyer interests.
For bulk OEM orders, Sea Freight (FCL or LCL) is the most cost-effective method. However, because deodorants contain liquids/chemicals, you must use a freight forwarder experienced in Class 9 or sensitive cargo. Ensure the HS Code (typically 3307.20) is correctly declared to avoid tariff penalties and delays at the destination port.
