Sodium stannate manufacturers

Buyers must prioritize the purity level, typically requiring ≥98% or ≥99% for high-end applications. Key chemical markers include the Tin (Sn) content, which should be approximately 42% to 44.5% for the trihydrate form. Additionally, monitor the levels of impurities such as Free Alkali (NaOH), Iron (Fe), and Lead (Pb), as these can significantly impact the stability of electroplating baths and the quality of surface finishes.

Sodium Stannate is a critical component in alkaline tin plating and tin alloy plating (such as tin-zinc or tin-copper). It is widely used in the electronics industry for coating components, in the automotive sector for piston coatings to reduce friction, and as a mordant in textile dyeing. Furthermore, it serves as a stabilizer for hydrogen peroxide and a flame retardant in plastics and synthetic fibers.

As a chemical product, it must be accompanied by a comprehensive Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) or Safety Data Sheet (SDS). For European markets, REACH registration is essential. Ensure the product complies with ISO 9001 for quality management and check if the supplier provides a Certificate of Analysis (COA) for every batch to verify chemical consistency and safety.

It is commonly supplied as white to light tan crystals or powder. Because it is hygroscopic (absorbs moisture from the air), it must be stored in hermetically sealed containers in a cool, dry, and well-ventilated area. Exposure to air can lead to the absorption of carbon dioxide, forming insoluble stannic acid, which reduces the effectiveness of the chemical in solution.

Sodium Stannate is often classified under UN 3262 (Corrosive solid, basic, inorganic) depending on its concentration and alkalinity. It requires UN-approved packaging, typically 25kg plastic-lined woven bags or fiber drums. When shipping to countries like the US or EU, ensure the IMDG (International Maritime Dangerous Goods) code regulations are strictly followed to avoid customs seizures or heavy fines.

Utilize secure payment methods and prioritize suppliers on Made-in-China.com who have undergone audited supplier certifications. It is highly recommended to engage third-party inspection services (like SGS or Intertek) to perform pre-shipment sampling and laboratory testing to ensure the chemical composition matches the agreed-upon specifications before the final balance is paid.

Since the price of Sodium Stannate is heavily tied to the LME (London Metal Exchange) tin prices, buyers should negotiate a formula-based pricing model or lock in rates during market dips. For bulk orders exceeding 5-10 metric tons, suppliers typically offer volume discounts of 5-10%. Always request a breakdown of the Total Landed Cost, including anti-dumping duties which may apply in certain regions.

A major risk is moisture damage during sea transit. Ensure the supplier uses desiccants inside the container and high-quality pallets with shrink-wrap. Additionally, verify the HS Code (typically 2841.90) with your local customs broker to ensure correct tariff classification and to check for any import quotas or environmental restrictions in your specific country.
