Copper scourer manufacturers

Buyers must distinguish between pure copper and copper-coated steel. Pure copper is non-sparking and softer, making it ideal for delicate surfaces, while copper-coated steel is more cost-effective but prone to rusting once the coating wears off. Ensure the wire diameter is typically between 0.10mm and 0.25mm to balance scrubbing power with surface safety.

Look for a knitted mesh design rather than a simple wound structure. A high-quality scourer should have interlocking loops that prevent the product from unravelling during heavy use. Request a tension test report to ensure the scourer maintains its shape and does not shed metal fragments, which could pose a safety hazard in food processing environments.

If the product is intended for food contact surfaces, it must comply with FDA (US) or LFGB (EU) standards. Specifically, verify that the copper alloy does not contain hazardous levels of lead or cadmium. For industrial use, check for ISO 9001 certification of the manufacturing facility to ensure consistent batch quality.

Copper scourers are preferred for heavy-duty cleaning of cookware, grills, and ovens because copper is naturally antimicrobial and less abrasive than stainless steel. They are also widely used in industrial extrusion cleaning to remove plastic buildup from metal parts without scratching the expensive machinery.

Perform a magnet test; pure copper is non-magnetic, whereas copper-plated steel will be attracted to a magnet. You should also request a Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) or a Chemical Composition Analysis from the supplier on Made-in-China.com to confirm the metallurgical properties before final payment.

Negotiate based on the current LME (London Metal Exchange) copper prices, as raw material costs fluctuate. For bulk orders exceeding 50,000 units, aim for a volume discount of 10-15%. Discuss packaging customization (e.g., private label polybags or blister cards) early, as this significantly impacts the final unit price and shipping volume.

Copper is sensitive to moisture and salt air during sea freight. Ensure the supplier uses moisture-proof inner packaging and includes desiccant silica gel packs in the master cartons. Request double-walled corrugated boxes to prevent the heavy weight of bulk metal scourers from collapsing the packaging during stacking.

Utilize the Secured Trading Service provided by Made-in-China.com to ensure payments are only released after the goods have passed inspection. Always conduct a pre-shipment inspection (PSI) through a third party to verify the weight, count, and material integrity before the container is sealed.
