Melatonin manufacturers

When sourcing Melatonin, you must prioritize pharmaceutical-grade purity, typically requiring a purity level of ≥99% as verified by HPLC (High-Performance Liquid Chromatography). Ensure the product complies with international pharmacopeia standards such as USP (United States Pharmacopeia) or EP (European Pharmacopoeia). For finished dosage forms (capsules/tablets), verify the disintegration time and active ingredient stability through accelerated aging tests.

Suppliers must hold GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) certification to ensure consistent production quality. For food-grade or dietary supplement applications, ISO 22000 or HACCP certifications are essential. If you are targeting specific markets, look for NSF International certification or Informed-Sport (for athletes). Additionally, ensure the supplier can provide a COA (Certificate of Analysis) for every batch and a MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) for logistics.

Melatonin is naturally lipophilic (fat-soluble) and has low water solubility. If your product is a liquid or spray, inquire about micronized powder or nano-emulsion technologies to improve bioavailability. For B2B procurement, specify the mesh size (e.g., 80-100 mesh) to ensure compatibility with your encapsulation or tableting machinery.

Melatonin is primarily used in dietary supplements, functional foods, and pharmaceutical preparations. Common forms include immediate-release tablets, sustained-release capsules, gummies, and sublingual drops. Recently, there is high demand for combination formulas where Melatonin is blended with botanical extracts like Valerian root or L-Theanine to enhance efficacy.

Melatonin's legal status varies significantly. In the US, it is an OTC dietary supplement, but in many EU countries and the UK, it is classified as a prescription-only medicine. Before ordering, confirm the maximum allowable dosage per unit in your target country. Failure to align with local health authority regulations (like FDA or EFSA) can lead to customs seizure and heavy fines.

Utilize secure payment terms such as Letter of Credit (L/C) or escrow services provided by reputable platforms like Made-in-China.com. Always request a pre-shipment inspection (PSI) by a third-party agency (e.g., SGS or Intertek) to verify that the batch matches the approved pre-production sample. Never settle for 100% upfront payment for new suppliers.

Melatonin is light-sensitive and heat-sensitive. Ensure the supplier uses amber-colored, airtight, and moisture-proof packaging (typically fiber drums with double PE bags). For long-distance sea freight, specify cool and dry storage conditions (below 25°C) to prevent degradation. Ensure the HS Code (typically 293399) is correctly declared to avoid customs delays.

Negotiate based on volume tiers and long-term contracts. Prices for raw Melatonin powder are highly sensitive to the cost of chemical precursors. Ask for a price sliding scale where the unit price drops by 10-15% as volume exceeds 500kg. Additionally, negotiate for free replacement of goods if third-party testing upon arrival shows purity levels below the agreed specification.
