Sake cup manufacturers

The material significantly impacts the flavor profile and temperature retention of the sake. Ceramic and Porcelain are the most common for traditional use, offering excellent heat retention for warm sake. Glass is preferred for chilled premium sake (Ginjo/Daiginjo) to showcase clarity and color. For high-end or gift markets, Tin (Suzume) is highly valued as it is believed to purify the water and keep sake cold, while Lacquerware (Wajima-nuri) provides a lightweight, luxurious tactile experience.

B2B buyers should select shapes based on the sake type: Wide-mouthed cups (Sakazuki) allow the aroma to disperse, making them ideal for fragrant sakes. Narrow-mouthed cups concentrate the aroma, suitable for earthy, savory sakes. The standard size for an Ochoko is typically 30-50ml, while Guinomi (larger cups) range from 60-100ml. Ensure the rim thickness is consistent; a thinner rim provides a more refined drinking experience for premium grades.

Since sake cups are food-contact materials, they must comply with strict safety regulations. For the US market, ensure products pass FDA Lead and Cadmium leaching tests. For the EU, compliance with Regulation (EC) No 1935/2004 is mandatory. If sourcing wooden or bamboo cups (Masu), verify they have a Phytosanitary Certificate and use food-grade, BPA-free coatings to prevent mold and leakage.

For restaurant and hotel clients, prioritize dishwasher-safe and chip-resistant ceramics. Look for high-fire stoneware (fired at 1200°C or higher) to ensure low porosity and high structural strength. If purchasing glass, tempered glass or lead-free crystal is recommended to withstand frequent industrial washing cycles without clouding.

Fragility is the primary risk. Insist on 5-layer corrugated export cartons and individual bubble wrap or EPE foam for each unit. For bulk shipments, palletization with plastic wrap is essential to prevent shifting. Request a drop test report (ISTA 1A or 2A) from the supplier before the goods leave the warehouse.

Focus on MOQ flexibility for mixed designs. Many suppliers on Made-in-China.com allow you to mix different glaze patterns within a single order. Negotiate for custom branding (logo firing) on the bottom of the cup, which usually adds only $0.05 - $0.15 per unit but significantly increases retail value.

Request a factory video tour or production photos showing the kiln and glazing process. Authentic handmade items will have slight variations in glaze and shape, whereas mass-produced items are identical. Check for ISO 9001 certification to ensure the factory maintains consistent quality even for 'hand-finished' products.

For high-value or fragile ceramics, Sea Freight (LCL or FCL) is generally safer than air freight because pallets are handled fewer times. Ensure the Incoterms are clearly defined (FOB or CIF). For urgent samples, use courier services with 'Fragile' insurance coverage to protect against total loss during the sampling phase.
