Speargun spear manufacturers

B2B buyers should prioritize 17-4 PH Stainless Steel or Galvanized Spring Steel. 17-4 PH is the industry standard for its superior corrosion resistance and high tensile strength, ensuring the shaft does not bend easily under the pressure of large fish. For budget-conscious markets, heat-treated carbon steel offers high hardness but requires anti-rust coatings to survive marine environments.

The choice depends on the target prey. Tahitian shafts (flopper style) are the most common for general reef fishing due to their hydrodynamic efficiency and low cost. For large pelagic fish, threaded shafts compatible with slip-tips are essential to prevent the fish from using the spear as a lever to tear its own flesh. Ensure the barb (flopper) pin is flush-mounted to reduce drag and improve penetration.

You must confirm the tail notch design (e.g., Euro-style rounded, American-style square, or specialized notches for roller guns). Additionally, verify the diameter (typically 6.5mm to 8mm) to ensure it fits the buyer's specific speargun trigger mechanism and muzzle. For high-powered setups, check if the spear features shark fins or pinned tabs for loading multiple power bands, as these are stronger than traditional cut-in notches.

While spears are mechanical components, they must adhere to general product safety directives. Ensure the manufacturer follows ISO 9001 quality management to guarantee straightness; a deviation of even 0.5mm can significantly impact accuracy. For shipments to the EU or US, verify that any coatings used are REACH or RoHS compliant regarding heavy metal content.

The biggest risk is shaft warping during transit. Spears are long, thin, and heavy, making them prone to bending if not packed in reinforced PVC piping or heavy-duty cardboard tubes. Always stipulate straightness tolerances in your contract and require pre-shipment inspection reports using a dial indicator to verify the shafts are perfectly true.

Focus on material certification (MTR) and volume-based pricing. Request a sample batch to test the Rockwell hardness (HRC); top-tier spears usually range between 40-45 HRC. Negotiate for tiered pricing where the unit cost drops by 15-25% when moving from a 50-unit MOQ to a 500-unit bulk order. Mentioning long-term cooperation for OEM branding can also secure better terms.

Speargun spears are often classified under Sporting Goods (HS Code 9507.90). However, some customs authorities may flag them as 'weapons.' Ensure all documentation clearly labels them as 'Underwater Fishing Equipment Components' to avoid delays. For shipping to the US or Europe, Sea Freight (LCL) is most economical due to the length-to-weight ratio, as air express often applies oversize surcharges for items exceeding 120cm.

Utilize Secured Trading Services on Made-in-China.com to protect your payment until the goods are verified. Always use Incoterms 2020 (like FOB or CIF) to clearly define where the risk transfers. For large orders, hire a third-party inspector to perform a 'During Production Check' (DUPRO) to ensure the steel grade and heat treatment processes match the agreed specifications.
