Spoons manufacturers

For commercial and retail use, the most common grades are 18/10, 18/8, and 18/0 stainless steel. 18/10 (304 grade) contains 10% nickel, offering the highest corrosion resistance and a long-lasting luster, making it ideal for high-end hotels. 18/0 (430 grade) contains no nickel and is more economical and magnetic, which is essential for businesses using magnetic cutlery retrievers in dishwashing areas.

Spoons must comply with regional food contact regulations. For the US market, FDA (21 CFR) standards are mandatory, while the EU market requires LFGB or Regulation (EC) No 1935/2004 certification. Ensure the supplier provides heavy metal migration test reports (specifically for lead and cadmium) to avoid customs seizures and legal liabilities.

Focus on the polishing level and edge smoothness. High-quality spoons undergo mirror polishing, while budget options use tumble polishing. Check the tines and bowls for burrs or sharp edges. For heavy-duty use, verify the gauge thickness (typically 2.0mm to 4.0mm); thicker spoons are less likely to bend under pressure in commercial environments.

Suppliers on Made-in-China.com typically offer laser engraving, stamping (debossing), or PVD plating. Laser engraving is cost-effective for small MOQs, while stamping is more durable for high-volume orders. PVD coating allows for gold, rose gold, or black finishes, but you must ensure the coating is dishwasher safe and food-grade.

Request a Material Mill Test Certificate (MTC) and conduct a third-party pre-shipment inspection. You can also use a stainless steel testing liquid or a handheld XRF analyzer during the sampling phase to verify the actual nickel and chromium content matches the contract specifications.

Negotiate based on weight and raw material market prices. Since stainless steel is a commodity, professional buyers track LME (London Metal Exchange) prices. Ask for tiered pricing based on volume and negotiate packaging costs separately, as custom retail boxes significantly impact the final unit price compared to bulk polybag packing.

Spoons are high-density cargo. For large volumes, Sea Freight (FCL or LCL) is the most economical. Ensure the supplier uses double-corrugated export cartons and inner boxes to prevent the weight of the spoons from collapsing the stack. For the US and Europe, consider DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) terms if you want the supplier to handle all customs clearance and import duties.

Always prioritize Audited Suppliers on Made-in-China.com who have undergone on-site verification. Use Secured Trading Services to ensure that payment is only released to the supplier after you have confirmed receipt and inspected the quality of the goods. Avoid direct wire transfers to private accounts.
